I assume most of it is just people wanting to play misc doom wads on their couch so they just casually upload things. Though there are a lot of myhouse.wad spoofs and some mischief going on. The port is buggy too and a lot of things break for a lot of wads.
i haven't uploaded anything but i'm trying to get Emerald City and Dimensions on my Switch to check things out.
edit: no luck on switch. No Subscriptions in game even though i subscribed on the mod web portal. Nintendo doesn't want to let you play penis-butt.wad on your switch? lame. you can still access the featured ones.

Yeah. Anyone can upload anything right now. It's the wild west. Except on the switch. Nintendo is still big into qc. There's no financial incentive to upload anything though. I'm sure a lot of it is just kids uploading someone else's stuff just so they can play it on console. Why it's littered with pk3s like house.wad that it can't even run. I don't think people trying to steal credit is anymore of an issue than anywhere else though if that's a concern. There is nothing stopping someone from let's say, editing other people's work, butchering it to make them look bad, just as a hypothetical. I have a feeling the service will get shut down until they can get some verification system in place. Too much legal liability.

Hopefully so. Reported it anyways. Luckily I had purchased the steam versions of Doom when I started out. Ty for the heads up.

As for id24 it looks like it's probably DOA as the "new standard" judging by kraflab's posts and banning along with what Graf has said. Without support from either of the two biggest source ports I don't see it getting much traction. I'm sticking to referring to it as corpo doom as that's mainly where it looks like it will be used. Which is funny that it was barley used in the port that is supposedly championing it. I think more commercial pwads will likely show up using it in the future. I wouldn't even be surprised if Romero's Hellion ends up as one at this point.
In regards to the port itself it's probably a good option for console players, particularly with some multiplayer support. The boom & mbf support was a good move if they actually get it cleaned up. I think the Hulshult soundtrack is decent and despite preferring midi, if I ever play through 1 & 2 again I'll probably use it and already threw it in a pwad, updating the naming format appropriately to do so. It's also a decent place to get all the iwads with widescreen assets built in for people who want that and don't mind that they are the censored wads. It's also a good place to pull some beta assets that haven't seen the light of day until now. Even if Doomkid got shut down after providing a dl of those assets they are still in there for everyone that doesn't give a shit about id/bethesda's feelings on the matter. There's a deathmatch map set but it's not all new maps and I can't speak to it's quality as a non-deathmatch player. Between those things and lor I think that's about every reason a person could actually have interest in this thing if they didn't get it free already. I'd say it actually is a pretty decent port in terms of content and features. Can't speak to actually playing with the thing though.

Multiple uploads present now. Still have to deal with Bethesda support.. no response other than automated crap.
Fuck this.

Anyways an update to this nonsense.
Seems like my shit will not be taken down since my case was closed with no indication of what the final decision on it was, even after asking what the final decision on the matter was (no response).
Everyone's stuff will be used to support Bethesda's program whether you like it or not (yes I consider merely having shit up there as supporting because it will give people incentive to buy it).
Just one more reason to hate this decision.

I was recently reminded of the Mick Gordon thing that happened a while back. Should read up on that.

They obviously want to capitalize on the existing community but that's still pretty scummy.
I don't know a lot about the Mick Gordon situation and it's been a while but I remember being somewhat neutral on it. It came across as fairly typical issues that crop up in business relationships from what I remember seeing.

Mick certainly presents a strong argument, especially when considering the emails he has as proof. But in the end, who knows.

www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yo2i3bi7vo87i7bnivpof/lof.zip?rlkey=ohaxxwxhj2ftfulna7m6fdnfy&st=7poqmyqc&dl=1If you want to play it (and not pay), here's the whole WAD in it's entirety; I think GZDoom can handle it, or whatever. I didn't get a good impression (Past MAP02, at least.) It's mid, IMHO. The usual Kool Kids Klub mapping, with some AWESOME new enemies and sounds. The scrapped content they used, was scrapped for a reason, I assume, which is also why I suppose it looks so bad. The "new" engine is just MBF21 but under a new name. Play this shit at your own discretion.
